Since Friday, May 16th evening parts of AFS are not available. This
results in the inability ti access certain data and also for some users
not being able to login.


Trouble caused by: Hardware failure

The power connection at the DESY site in Zeuthen has been fully restored.

In order to supply the campus with regular power again, a shutdown is planned for Monday, 06.05.2025 to switch over to the power supply.

On Tuesday, 07.05.2025, the data center will be powered up again in a controlled manner. From noon, largely normal operation should be possible again - however, there may still be restrictions.

Since Monday, 21.4.2025, 12:00h the DESY location in Zeuthen is not available.
The campus is closed and may currently not be entered.

The colleagues are informed and are working on a solution with highest priority.

As soon as we have more detailled information about the impacts or the problem has been solved, we will inform you about it.

On Dienstag, 27.5.2025 between 08:30h and 11:00h the central Wiki service XWiki (https://xwiki.desy.de) won't be available due to maintenance works.

Maintenance caused by: Installation of a Security Update

Regular Maintenance Slot: TSM (ADSM) backup server

Time: each Tuesday, 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Systems: all

Impact: The TSM backup servers will be partly down. It will not be possible to restore files on the central Unix or Windows systems from backups made by the TSM.

An apology must be made in advance: It is always possible that things do not work as planned. Therefore the given ending times may not be kept as promised.

Since Tuesday, 01.04.2025, cross-service login via the central authentication service Keycloak does not work as usual.

Normally, logging in once is enough to access multiple services. At the moment, however, this is not possible:
For example, if you log in at https://mail.desy.de or https://xwiki.desy.de, you are not automatically logged in to other services that also use Keycloak.
Currently you need to log in again for each of these other services.

The following web services are affected:

- Indico (https://indico.desy.de)
- DESY Sync & Share (https://syncandshare.desy.de)
- DESY Mail (https://mail.desy.de)
- XWiki (https://xwiki.desy.de)
- Jupyterhub (max-hub and naf-jhub)

We are working on a solution to this problem.

In this storage service, the default settings for permissions when sharing a directory may lead to unplanned behaviour, which we would like to draw your attention to with this information.

The behaviour is based on the fact that the default settings also include the right to delete. The result can be that data becomes inaccessible to the person who shared the data if one of the persons with whom the data was shared moves it; this corresponds to copying it to the target folder and then deleting it in the source folder.
The files and directories are not lost, but are now in the directory tree of the person who moved them.

To work around this issue until it is fixed, the recommendation is not to move any data that has been shared with you via Sync & Share. Persons already affected will be informed directly.

A support request is in progress at the manufacturer.

On Monday, 16.06.2025, the previous printer service v02spool of the Windows terminal server winsaphr[1] will be switched off.

If you only print from winsaphr using the SAP GUI or not at all, you can ignore this information.

If you print from winsaphr from other applications, please carry out a one-time reinstallation of the printer (hr[printer name]) previously used on winsaphr. To do this, please use the new printer service v02spool11.

Accordingly, it will no longer be possible to use the call function in the DESY Chat (chat.desy.de).
