A solution to this problem is not reasonably possible with the current DESY account management (Registry). With the introduction of the new DESY Registry version (expected Q4 2022), this problem will no longer occur. Update: ------- When creating a new DESY account, the automatic setup of the associated AFS user directory fails in some cases. This means that the affected users cannot log on to central Linux systems (including bastion.desy.de and pal.desy.de). An error message is also displayed when changing the AFS password in the registry. In such a case, please contact the IT Helpdesk (UCO), stating the account name: E-mail: uco@desy.de ------------ Since yesterday, Tuesday, approx. 21.30 h there is a problem concerning the central file system AFS. Therefore the login to some central Linux systems is not possible for newly created and reactivated accounts. In addition, access to the AFS user directories of the affected accounts as well as to some AFS group directories is not possible. Caused by: Problems in the communication between DESY account management (registry) and AFS servers |
