Maintenance of the DESY Mail System
Due to unforeseen technical issues, the maintenance could not be completed within the planned timeframe.

The maintenance will resume on Wednesday, 02.07.2025, at 08:00 AM. There will be a necessary interruption of the DESY mail service mail.desy.de of approximately four hours starting around 11:30 AM. If the work proceeds as planned, the maintenance will be fully completed by around 6:00 PM.

On Thursday, 26/06/2025, maintenance work will be carried out on the central email service (mail.desy.de) from 8:00 to 21:00.

During this period, there will be two shorter interruptions of the email service in the morning, each lasting about 20 minutes. In the afternoon, starting at 16:00, the email service will also be unavailable for a period of one to four hours, and email traffic will be halted.

Incoming emails will be temporarily stored and delivered to the email accounts after the maintenance work is completed.

The reason for the maintenance is the update of the email service (Zimbra) from major version 9 to 10.

This short-term maintenance is necessary to ensure operational safety.

The end of the maintenance work will be announced on the IT News page (https://it-news.desy.de/) under the "Maintenance" section.

in progressSync & Share: Unexpected behaviour when moving shared data
In this storage service, the default settings for permissions when sharing a directory may lead to unplanned behaviour, which we would like to draw your attention to with this information.

The behaviour is based on the fact that the default settings also include the right to delete. The result can be that data becomes inaccessible to the person who shared the data if one of the persons with whom the data was shared moves it; this corresponds to copying it to the target folder and then deleting it in the source folder.
The files and directories are not lost, but are now in the directory tree of the person who moved them.

To work around this issue until it is fixed, the recommendation is not to move any data that has been shared with you via Sync & Share. Persons already affected will be informed directly.

A support request is in progress at the manufacturer.

Exchange of the printer service on the Windows terminal server winsaphr
On Monday, 16.06.2025, the previous printer service v02spool of the Windows terminal server winsaphr[1] will be switched off.

If you only print from winsaphr using the SAP GUI or not at all, you can ignore this information.

If you print from winsaphr from other applications, please carry out a one-time reinstallation of the printer (hr[printer name]) previously used on winsaphr. To do this, please use the new printer service v02spool11.
